Temperature sensor protection wells
Explore temperature sensor protection wells for general-purpose and exhaust-gas applications, with different materials, lengths and connection options.
Protection for temperature measurement in marine applications
Our temperature sensor protection wells provide a protective interface between the temperature sensor and the measurement environment.
The range includes general-purpose protection wells and protection wells for exhaust-gas temperature measurement. Different materials, lengths, threads, pressure ratings and operating-temperature capabilities are available depending on the model
Find the right temperature sensor protection well
Start with the measurement application, then consider the temperature sensor, material, operating conditions, dimensions and connection requirements.
General-purpose protection wells
General-purpose protection wells are available for temperature measurement across marine and industrial applications.
Most models in the current range use AISI316 or equivalent stainless steel. Different lengths, thread options and pressure ratings are available depending on the model. MN3795 uses CuNi70/30 material.

Frequently asked questions
A protection well provides an interface between the temperature sensor and the measurement environment. The appropriate model depends on the sensor, application and operating conditions.
The range includes general-purpose protection wells and protection wells for exhaust-gas temperature measurement.
Start with the application and temperature sensor, then consider material, operating temperature, pressure, required length and thread or process connection. Contact our team if you need support identifying the appropriate model.
General-purpose models are primarily available in AISI316 or equivalent stainless steel, with MN3795 available in CuNi70/30. Exhaust-gas models include high-temperature chromium steel, AISI304, AISI316L and NIMONIC 75A, depending on the model.
Yes. Selected models on the existing pages state maximum pressure ratings of up to 350 bar. The appropriate model should be selected based on the complete operating requirements.
Yes. The current Marine temperature sensors information states that mounting a sensor in a protection well approximately doubles the time constant. It also states that using heat-transfer compound between the sensor and protection well can reduce the time constant by approximately 30%.
