System and Control Commissioning Lead
Are you passionate about complex systems and how they come together as one?
We are looking for a System & Control Commissioning Lead to take a key role in commissioning and integrating advanced electrical power and control systems.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that multiple subsystems—ranging from power generation and propulsion drives to automation and control systems—are successfully integrated into a fully functional and reliable vessel system. Acting as the technical authority during commissioning, you will bridge engineering design, system integration, and on-site execution.
This is a hands-on technical role where you will work closely with engineers, specialists, and suppliers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality system performance.
What you will be doing
You will take the technical lead in system-level commissioning, ensuring all subsystems are integrated and function as one complete solution. Reporting to Group Manager Commissioning and working closely with project teams, you will ensure the system performs as intended in real operation.
You will:
- Lead system-level commissioning of electrical power and control systems
- Ensure integration between subsystems such as power, propulsion, automation, and control
- Act as the technical authority during commissioning and testing
- Plan and coordinate commissioning sequences across multiple disciplines
- Resolve complex technical and integration challenges
- Support troubleshooting during quay side and sea trials
- Verify system functionality, performance, safety, and redundancy
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, class requirements, and standards
- Manage technical interfaces between internal teams, shipyards, and suppliers
- Ensure commissioning documentation and test reports are completed accurately
- Contribute to continuous improvement and development of best practice.
We think you should have
To succeed in this role, we believe you have a strong technical foundation combined with a system-oriented mindset and the confidence to take ownership.
Ideally, you have:
- Experience from commissioning, system integration, or testing complex electrical and control systems
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, drives, automation, and control systems
- Experience working with integrated systems and interfaces across multiple disciplines
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering documentation, control philosophies, and system design
- Fluent in English and Norwegian verbal and written
This employment may require a pre-employment check procedure in accordance with company security standards, role or site requirements. Please note that this might affect the offer process or employment.
You are able to
- take technical ownership and stand by your decisions
- speak up, challenge solutions, and address issues when needed
- see the bigger system and understand how subsystems interact
- troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a structured way
- communicate clearly and confidently with engineers, suppliers, and project teams
- work systematically and maintain focus in high-pressure commissioning phases
- collaborate effectively across disciplines to achieve common goals
You are motivated by understanding how systems work as a whole and take pride in making them perform reliably in real operation.
