SQL Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced and proactive SQL Database Administrator to join our IT organization. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical database expertise with a passion for continuous improvement, automation, and platform development.

As our SQL Database Administrator, you will take ownership and contribute with our database environment, ensure high availability and performance, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our database platform, systems, and operational procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Ensure database performance, availability, integrity, and security
  • Participate in database design, upgrades, migrations, and platform modernization initiatives
  • Work closely with application owners, developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders
  • Develop and improve operational procedures, standards, and best practices
  • Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement
  • Project participation and M&A
  • Support and administer additional database technologies as required

Prefered Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator in enterprise and large-scale IT environments, with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, security, monitoring, automation, high availability and clustering solutions. Fluent written and spoken English, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Experience with one or more database platforms such as Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB, or other enterprise database technologies, as well as cloud database services (Azure, AWS or similar), PowerShell or other scripting languages, DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices, and ITIL-based service management.
  • Takes ownership and delivers results, demonstrates curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset, enjoys optimizing existing solutions and processes, applies a structured and quality-focused approach, communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and thrives in collaborative and international environments.
