Would you like to take responsibility for Kongsberg Maritime’s growth in the North American market?

Kongsberg Maritime is looking for a commercially driven and relationship-oriented Sales Manager who wants to play a key role in our continued growth within the Naval segment.

You will become a central part of our international sales team, responsible for developing business within one of our most strategically prioritized markets – the United States and Canada. In this role, you will combine technical understanding, commercial acumen, and long-term relationship building in some of the world’s most complex and exciting marine projects.

About the Role

As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing and driving business within the Naval segment, with a particular focus on North America. The role involves building long-term relationships with customers, shipyards, and business partners while leading complex sales opportunities from initial market dialogue through to contract award.

You will work closely with our engineering, project management, finance, and product organizations to create competitive solutions where both technical and commercial perspectives are carefully balanced.

The opportunities you will manage are often large-scale, international, and span several years, placing high demands on business acumen, structure, and perseverance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating business opportunities where multiple functions must collaborate to achieve the best results.

The position requires travel to North America several times per year, and we offer a hybrid working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Among other things, you will:

  • Be responsible for sales within the Naval segment, focusing on the United States and Canada.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in a strategically prioritized market.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers, shipyards, and business partners.
  • Lead complex sales processes from initial discussions through contract negotiations and award.
  • Drive proposal and tender activities together with engineering, project management, and finance teams.
  • Represent Kongsberg Maritime at customer meetings, international trade shows, and conferences.
  • Contribute to strengthening our market position in North America.

Who We Are Looking For

You have experience in technical B2B sales involving complex, long-term, and international business opportunities.

You have a natural ability to build trust, understand customer needs, and mobilize the right internal expertise to develop the best solution.

You are motivated by developing business rather than securing quick wins and recognize the value of long-term relationships.

Qualifications

 

Required

  • University degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in technical B2B sales.
  • Experience in international business development and sales.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience with commercial discussions.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Preferred

  • Experience from the marine, defense, or another technologically advanced industry.
  • Experience working in the North American market.
  • Experience in security-classified operations.

About the Recruitment Process
