Your Role

The Maritime Simulation Product Department is responsible for shaping the ship bridge simulators for the future needs within the maritime industry trends, meeting our customers’ requirements. We support sales with maritime knowledge and engage in customer collaboration, identifying how to best meet our customers ambitions and goals. In a structured and innovative approach, we advise and follow up our software developers in making the correct solutions. The product department represents the centre of product and maritime knowledge within our organization.

The Maritime Simulation Product Department is hiring a Product Manager in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with strong product management expertise, technical insight, and a passion for bringing innovative products to market. This role will work closely with a dedicated local development team while maintaining strong collaboration with the main product organization in Norway, requiring excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills across different time zones.


Your main responsibility will be nothing short of extraordinary:

  • Product domain expert within K-Sim Navigation
  • Support sales department with domain knowledge
  • Advice on strategy and improvements to the simulator solutions
  • Create and manage development backlog

 
Having a background and experience in the Maritime Industry would be valuable:

Product Management & Business Acumen

  • Proven experience in product management, preferably in a software or technology-driven environment.
  • Ability to translate business strategy and customer needs into actionable product requirements.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, from concept through release and continuous improvement.
  • Experience prioritizing product backlogs based on business value, customer needs, and technical considerations.
  • Ability to make informed decisions independently while aligning with broader product and business objectives.

Collaboration with Development Teams

  • Experience working directly with software development teams in an Agile environment.
  • Ability to provide clear priorities, requirements, and direction to development teams.
  • Strong understanding of software development processes and practices.
  • Comfortable balancing business needs, technical constraints, and delivery timelines.
  • Ability to remove impediments and facilitate effective decision-making within the team.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different organizational levels and functions.
  • Skilled at building relationships and maintaining alignment with stakeholders located in different geographical locations and time zones.
  • Proactive in sharing information, raising issues, and ensuring transparency.
  • Comfortable presenting product plans, progress, and recommendations to management and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience working in international and distributed organizations.
  • Experience managing products where development teams and stakeholders are located in different time zones.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Azure DevOps, or similar product management tools.
  • Experience in maritime technology, simulation, SaaS, or other complex technical products is an advantage.
