Kongsberg Maritime operates in many countries and serves customers globally with advanced maritime technologies – some of which have strategic importance.

We therefore maintain a robust Export Controls and Sanctions Compliance program to ensure that all our international dealings are lawful and responsible. Simply put, we adhere to all applicable export control laws, regulations, and sanctions regimes imposed by Norway, the EU, the United States, and any other jurisdictions relevant to our business.

Norway enforces some of the world’s strictest regulations on the export of defense-related and dual-use products. In line with our heritage as part of KONGSBERG, we have deep experience navigating these rules. Before transferring any controlled technology or products across borders, we verify licensing requirements and obtain necessary government approvals (e.g., export licenses from Norwegian authorities).

Our specialists stay up-to-date with international sanctions lists and trade restrictions to ensure we do not engage with sanctioned entities or destinations. We use reliable screening tools and expert guidance to vet our customers, end-users, and transactions for compliance with sanctions and trade restrictions. This vigilance extends to all parts of our company and our subsidiaries worldwide – if a certain country or entity is subject to sanctions or embargoes, we will not do business that violates those measures.

We invest in continuous export control training for our employees and partners, fostering awareness of these critical obligations (such as handling of controlled technical data, proper classification of products, and red flags for improper diversion). Non-compliance with export laws or sanctions not only carries severe legal penalties, but could also undermine international security and trust in Kongsberg Maritime. By rigorously controlling our exports and partnerships, we protect our business and contribute to global security, all while retaining the trust of governments, customers, and the public.
