Advanced electric propulsion with high efficiency and compact design
Elegance Pods integrates direct-drive permanent magnet (PM) motor technology into hydrodynamically optimized pod units resulting in an electric propulsion solutions to deliver efficient, responsive, and compact vessel propulsion. Designed for a wide range of vessel types, the system provides precise manoeuvrability, high hydrodynamic performance, and reliable operation across a broad speed range. Developed with expertise from the Kongsberg Maritime Hydrodynamic Research Centre, Elegance Pods are engineered to optimise propulsion efficiency while supporting low-noise vessel operation and simplified installation.
Designed for efficient and flexible electric propulsion
At the core of the Elegance Pod is a permanent magnet electric motor integrated directly within the pod unit. Combined with an advanced hydrodynamic design and patented Twin-Tail technology, the system is designed to maximise propulsion efficiency with low noise and vibration to achieve greater comfort on board and designed to minimise underwater radiated noise.
The compact configuration supports efficient vessel integration, while the adjustable design enables optimisation to individual hull forms and operational profiles. The pod range includes ice-capable variants for demanding operating environments.
Flexible power system integration
The Elegance range is available in two power variants: a low-voltage design up to 7.5 MW and a high-voltage design up to 22 MW.
- Low-voltage Elegance Pods are supplied with variable frequency drive converters, either as part of a DC distribution system or as a stand-alone drive connected to an AC distribution system.
- High-voltage Elegance Pods are supplied with a diode front-end drive and transformer connected to an AC distribution system.
