Wet Cameras on navy submarines are typically used for:
Machinery space monitoring
Payloads Bay doors
Underwater navigation
Array and antenna deployment and recovery
Enclosed spaces must be lit because there is no ambient light available so the cameras and lamps form a system which will typically have to deal with still laden water, rust, oil and general debris in the water. Kongsberg use carefully matched sensors and light sources to achieve the optimum results. We can assist in designing the layout of machinery spaces to achieve the best possible view of critical equipment. It is obviously not practicable to service equipment whilst the vessel is at sea so the most demanding levels of reliability are called for.
Cameras fitted outside the casing must operate in ambient light. On a sunny day light levels can be quite reasonable even at depths below 50 metres. Kongsberg can offer the most sensitive underwater cameras for ultra-low light situations at depth, under ice or at night.
