Kongsberg Maritime Ltd has extended the range of Drill Support solutions to FPSO applications these systems are typically deployed from converted oil-tankers or semi-submersible rigs that are used as Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels. Applications include the monitoring of flexible risers.
Typically, an FPSO Drill Support System shall comprise the following equipment, these can be additionally customised to suit specific installations:
Surface Control Unit The Surface Control Unit (SCU) provides for operation of the cable handling and camera sub-systems. The SCU is available in three flexible configurations:
Option 1 Combined purged unit containing all controls, electronics and integral display.
Option 2 Separate purged control box and separate purged TFT Display.
Option 3 Separate 19" rack mount control box (non purged) and separate non-purged TFT Display.
The SCU in either configuration incorporates the following features:

14" Colour CRT Display (Option 1)

The SCU (Options 1 & 2) is certified for use in Eex-p Zone 1 Group IIBT6 (CENELEC EN50018) to BASEEFA equivalent standards.
Deck Cable The deck cable carries the signals between the SCU and the winch.
Pneumatic Winch for TV Package The Winch provides for deployment of the Camera package. Each winch is manufactured in steel, is skid mounted and typically employs the following features:
The winch is fitted with a suitable sized electrical slip ring assembly which is certified for use in Eexd Zone 1 Group IIB T6 (CENELEC EN 50018) to BASEEFA standards.
System Cable The system cable carries the signals between the winch and the camera system. The cable also provides the mechanical link between the winch and the Support Frame.
Support Frame The camera package is installed on a Support Frame. The Support Frame in conjunction with a clump weight guidewire system is used for the deployment of the camera package. The frame is fitted with cone runners for easy connection to the guidewires.
Subsea Junction Box The Subsea Junction Box provides the main interface between the System Cable and the Camera Package.

OE1366/67 Colour Zoom Camera The OE1366/67 utilises the latest solid state imaging technology, which provides unsurpassed improvements in sensitivity and resolution. The OE1366/67 has an integral 12:1 zoom lens and features remote focus and zoom control, auto iris and user selectable autofocus. The camera is fitted with a 3000 metre rated titanium housing.
OE11-131 Underwater Lamp The OE11-131, is a heavy duty underwater lamp design for harsh environment use. The OE11-131 has a Titanium body rated to 3,000 metres water depth and incorporates a rugged passivated stainless steel shell underwater connector. The OE11-131 is fitted with a 250W Quartz halogen bulb which offers long life and provides a greater than 100° spread of illumination.
OE10-100 Underwater Pan and Tilt Unit This medium duty Pan & Tilt unit is manufactured in 316L Stainless Steel and incorporates an oil fill and pressure compensation diaphragm for reliable deep water operation. The unit has approximately 340° pan movement and ± 170° tilt movement and operates from 110V ac. The available torque on each movement is approximately 10Nm.
Subsea Cable Assemblies Discrete cable assemblies to connect the Subsea Junction Box to the Camera, Lamps and Pan & Tilt assemblies mounted on the Support Frame.
