The company was established as Osprey Electronics in Wick in the north of Scotland in 1975. In 1997, the company was renamed Kongsberg Simrad Ltd following acquisition by Kongsberg Gruppen A/S, one of Norway's leading high technology companies in the marine and military fields.
Capital Investment
The acquisition of the company in 1997 provided the catalyst for substantial capital investment in the Wick operation. Significant and ongoing investment in new technology has been mirrored by investment in the IT infrastructure of the plant including a Wide Area Network and video conferencing capabilities with ISDN links.
